Another Great use for Smoked Paprkia!

Yum! Smoky Spiced Buttered Popcorn
I began my relationship with Smoked Paprika quite some time ago. I love it. There's something that is so indescribably Earthy about Smoked Paprika.

When I discovered that Go Bold With Butter would be a corporate sponsor for the AllRecipes.com AllStars program that I am a member of, I was excited! I mean, seriously - who does NOT like butter?  Even if a person says "no" I would have a hard time believing that this person is content to dip lobster in a melting pot of milk? Ya, right. *ahem*. No, EVERYONE loves the pure natural taste that only comes from Butter.

There are some wonderful recipes on the Go Bold With Butter Blog which we can choose from to create our own Buttery Experience. The recipe for Smoky Spiced Buttered Popcorn stopped my eyeballs dead in their tracks. Wow. A marriage of two of my favorite things in one savory dish! It just doesn't get any better in JaneLand.

This is so simple to mix up, and it skyrockets popcorn to a whole new level of culinary delight. Oh, sure, there are flavors - and then there are FLAVORS.... Here's the recipe and I hope when you make it that you will have appreciated just as much as I did and do!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup of popcorn kernels
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon smoked Spanish paprika (I got mine from Gourmet Delights)
  • 1/2 teaspoon granulated garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon granulated onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon Koshher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Fresh chopped thyme

Directions:

Put the popcorn kernels in the bowl of a microwave popcorn maker. If you don't have one, use a large brown paper lunch bag with the top folded over firmly once or twice.

Cover the bowl; select the "popcorn" setting on your microwave, adding an additional 30 seconds if needed to pop all the kernels. Transfer the popcorn to a large mixing bowl.

Place the butter, paprika, granulated garlic, onion, salt and pepper in a small microwaveable dish. Microwave at 50 percent power in 30 second increments until the butter is just melted. Stir the mixture to combine it all together.

Pour half the spiced butter over the popcorn and toss to coat; add the remaining butter and toss again to coat the kernels evenly. Finish it with a sprinkling of fresh chopped thyme.

Happy Eating!
